Surgery success for Carragher
Liverpool vice-captain Jamie Carragher has successfully undergone an operation on his dislocated shoulder.
The Reds defender is expected to face three months on the sidelines after suffering the injury in last Sunday's 2-1 defeat at Tottenham.
Carragher, who had been an ever-present this season, is now expected to begin his rehabilitation after surgery went according to plan.
"The operation went well," Peter Brukner, Head of Sports Medicine and Sports Science at Anfield, told the club's official website.
"It also confirmed this was the correct course of action to take to ensure Jamie makes a complete recovery."
iverpool managed a 1-1 draw against Steaua Bucharest on Thursday in their first game since Carragher's absence and they next host Aston Villa in the Premier League on Monday.
