Sunderland manager Paolo Di Canio has been fined 8,000 pounds ($12,700) by the Football Association after accepting a charge of misconduct for his outburst at a referee.

Toward the end of his team's 3-1 loss at Arsenal last Saturday, Di Canio argued with referee Martin Atkinson and was sent off the field.

Di Canio later said he'd told Atkinson ''if you want to complete a perfect job, you can send me off.'

The Italian coach was frustrated by the decision to disallow a goal from Jozy Altidore that would have leveled the score at 2-2.

Di Canio avoided a match suspension and will be in the dugout when his team visits West Brom on Saturday.
