Almeria says it has hired Jose Luis Oltra to coach the struggling Spanish club for the rest of the season.
Almeria said Wednesday that after ''marathon'' negotiations, the 41-year-old Oltra had agreed to take over a team which is second from bottom in the league.
The former Tenerife coach replaces Juan Manuel Lillo, who was fired after Saturday's 8-0 defeat to Barcelona. That defeat matched the worst defeat in the Spanish league for 51 years.
Oltra takes the job after Argentinean coach Nestor Gorosito had also been in discussions with Almeria, according to Spanish reports.

Almeria has just one victory from 12 games. Oltra faces a tough first game in charge at Valencia on Sunday.
