Steven Gerrard could become manager of League One club
Steven Gerrard could be next manager of Milton Keynes Dons. Gerrard and the League One club have been in contact and discussed the possibility of his taking over as MK Dons' new boss, according to the BBC.
Gerrard recently announced that he would leave the LA Galaxy and that he had options "on and off the pitch." While rumors have swirled about his playing for Celtic or Newcastle, he's also been linked to various coaching jobs. Nobody reported that he could be the boss at a club. It looked more likely that he would be an assistant or youth coach, potentially at Liverpool. But then MK Dons popped up.
MK Dons are currently 21st in League One and in search of a new manager after jettisoning Karl Robinson.
Gerrard is working on his UEFA A license, which is the second-highest license offered, so he clearly wants to get into management one day. It may be sooner rather than later, which would mean the end of his playing career.
But just because Gerrard has spoken with MK Dons and they have a mutual interest does not mean that he is going to get the job. MK Dons have also reportedly spoken to several candidates and Gerrard is just one of them, but he's definitely made it into the mix.
