Tommy Wright has been hired as the new manager of Scottish Premier League side St. Johnstone, stepping up from his previous role as assistant to the departed Steve Lomas.
Lomas left the club last week to take over at second-tier English team Millwall, having guided St. Johnstone to a place in the Europe League for the second straight season.
St. Johnstone says Monday it ''welcomes this exciting new chapter, heralding the start of a challenging European and domestic campaign.''
Wright is a former Northern Ireland goalkeeper who played for Newcastle and Manchester City during his playing career.
