Tottenham have been boosted by the news that William Gallas has not suffered a new hamstring injury after pulling up in training on Tuesday.

There had been fears that the veteran centre-back could be sidelined for a month at a crucial stage of the season for Spurs.

However, Harry Redknapp has been handed a welcome boost with a scan revealing no new damage to the former Arsenal and Chelsea man.

The club are still to reveal the full extent of Gallas' problem and it remains to be seen if he will be risked against West Ham in the Premier League on Saturday.

A statement on the club's official website read: "A scan this afternoon (Wednesday) has reported that William Gallas has not suffered a fresh hamstring injury.

"The France defender had pulled up in training yesterday concerned about his hamstring.

"He will now be assessed over the coming days to determine his availability for this weekend's home Premier League fixture against West Ham United."

Redknapp's men are battling to secure another top-four finish in the Premier League and will learn their Champions League quarter-final opponents in Friday's draw.
