Sporting Gijon has lost striker Mate Bilic for one month due to a leg muscle injury.
Following MRI scans, the Spanish club said Wednesday that the Croatia international tore a muscle in his right thigh during Sunday's 2-1 loss at Tenerife.
Sporting coach Manuel Preciado says the injury does not necessarily mean the team will go looking to buy another forward during the winter transfer period.
Sporting could also be without leading scorer Miguel de las Cuevas (leg), defender Gregory Arnolin (hamstring) and midfielder Andreu Guerao (flu) for Saturday's game against Sevilla.
Sporting is tied for seventh with Athletic Bilbao, both with 20 points.
