LISBON, Portugal -- Sporting Lisbon moved into the second qualifying spot in Champions League Group G with a 3-1 win over Maribor on Tuesday that put the Slovenian club out of the tournament.

With one game left to play, Sporting improved to seven points. Maribor has three, with Schalke on five. In the last group game Sporting travels to group leader Chelsea, which has already qualified for the knockout round, while winless Maribor hosts Schalke with a berth in the Europa League up for grabs as the group's third-place finisher.

Carlos Mane tapped in Jefferson's low cross from the left for the opening goal in the ninth minute. Nani, who produced a standout performance in midfield, made it 2-0 in the 35th when he wrong-footed three defenders inside the penalty area and fired into the net.

Maribor got back into the game five minutes later when Jefferson, under pressure, pushed the ball into his own goal.

After a floodlight failure at the Jose Alvalade Stadium in the Portuguese capital delayed the restart by more than 45 minutes, Islam Slimani sealed the result with a close-range left-foot volley in the 65th.
