The Spanish football league will hold elections this month to elect the successor to outgoing president Jose Luis Astiazaran.

In a statement published on its website Friday, the league said that hopefuls can submit their official candidacy from April 8-18.

If there is only one candidate, he or she will be named league president on April 19, pending a period open for appeals, which will be ruled on by April 26.

If there are two or more candidates, there will be a vote held on April 29.
