Spanish club Huesca hires Francisco Rodriguez as new coach
MADRID (AP) — Promoted Spanish club Huesca has hired former player Francisco Rodriguez as its new coach.
The 40-year-old Rodriguez is replacing former Argentina goalkeeper Leo Franco, who was fired on Tuesday with Huesca in last place in the 20-team Spanish league standings.
Rodriguez played as a striker for several small Spanish clubs in the 2000s, including Almeria, which he later coached during the 2013-14 season.
Franco coached Huesca, which is playing in the top flight for the first time, to one win, two draws and five losses.
Huesca hosts Espanyol in its first match after the international break.
The club went back and forth between the third and fourth tiers after it was founded in 1960 until reaching the second division for the first time in the 2008-09 season.
