World champion Spain will play a friendly match against Venezuela on June 7, six days later than originally planned, to allow key players to rest following a grueling domestic season.

The presidents of the two countries' football federations agreed the change, which will give the Barcelona players that form the core of the Spain squad extra time to recover following the Champions League final on May 28.

Spain opens its tour of the Americas with a friendly against the U.S. on June 4, while Venezuela is preparing for July's Copa America.

Angel Maria Villar, president of the Spanish Football Federation, says he is ''delighted'' with the invitation to play Venezuela and hopes to have the ''best team'' available for the match.
