Spain chooses WC base near Johannesburg

European champion Spain will base itself near Johannesburg for next year's World Cup in South Africa.

Coach Vicente del Bosque says Spain will arrive in Potchefstroom on June 10. Potchefstroom is a university town about 120 kilometers from the capital.

Spain opens Group H against Switzerland on June 16 in Durban before matches against Honduras and Chile.

Spain is planning to prepare for the tournament with three international friendly matches to be played on May 29, June 5 and June 8.
