Song: Success can sway Cesc

The Gunners skipper was openly courted by Barcelona last summer, with the Catalan giants keen to return the midfielder to his roots. Arsenal were able to see off that interest, with Fabregas tied down on a long-term deal, but accept that the 23-year-old's head has been turned. It remains to be seen whether Barca will chance their arm again at the end of the current campaign, with the Spaniards playing their cards close to their chest. The Gunners would find it easier to fend off a second raid were they to have secured top honours this term. They are well-placed for a tilt at the Premier League title and Champions League crown, and Song feels at least one of those trophies has to be secured. With Arsenal having waited six long years since they last lifted any silverware, the 2005 FA Cup, the Cameroon international appreciates that there is only so long a player of Fabregas' quality is prepared to wait for success. "We have to win a big trophy to keep Cesc, that's what I think," said Song. "He has progressed even more, everyone can see that, but what's important is that he has love for the club. "That's something I'm sure of, but he can't wait forever. When I see some of the passes he provides, you have to admire them. I sometimes go up to him and say, 'How did you do that?' "I know that if I tried half the things he does they would not work."
