A teenager playing soccer with a group of friends in Sweden was stabbed to death by a drunk man in an as-yet unexplained attack, The Local news website reported Tuesday.

The 29-year-old reportedly attacked the players, who were enjoying a training game in Hasselby, western Stockholm, on Monday night, leaving an 18-year-old with stab wounds.

The teenager later died of his injuries. Two other people were also injured.

The alleged attacker was arrested on suspicion of murder, although any motive remains unclear.

"It is probably something which has gone awry in connection with the alcohol or something similar," Marie-Louise Nilsson, from the Stockholm police, told the TT news agency.
