Smith rejects McGregor reports
Reports suggest McGregor is set to be the subject of a £5million bid from the West Midlands club in January. The Scotland goalkeeper has also been linked with a move to Manchester United and was in impressive form against the Premier League giants in the Champions League on Wednesday. McGregor has already seen his stock rise after establishing himself as Scotland number one with stand-out performances in Euro 2012 qualifiers against the Czech Republic and Spain. But Smith insists the Scottish champions have had no contact with any club regarding the 28-year-old. He said: "(Villa assistant boss) Gary McAllister came to the game [against Manchester United] and now it's 'Aston Villa are interested in Allan McGregor'. "It's a nice link. But we've not heard anything from any club. "It's still a bit early in the year to be speculating about transfers in January."
