Sissoko happy to stay at Newcastle despite PSG, Arsenal rumors
Newcastle midfielder Moussa Sissoko is happy to stay at the club, despite rumors he is a target for Arsenal and Paris St Germain.
The 25-year-old has impressed since arriving at St James' Park in January 2013 and speculation over his future intensified when he described Arsenal as "the club of my heart" at the start of the January transfer window amid rumors Paris Saint-Germain had joined the race for his signature.
But Sissoko has said: "My goal was to come to England because it was the championship that best matched my game and I do not think I am wrong. So I want to stay here and grow at one of the biggest clubs in England. I have a preference for the Premier League and I see myself staying here."
Sissoko added: "I am focused on Newcastle. I have a four-and-a-half year contract so in my head I still tell myself I am still here for four years and a half. They appreciate me here and everything is good."
"I am not saying that I absolutely want to go or not. If it happens, it happens. I am at Newcastle and I will continue to work until one day I have the chance to play at a very big club. Nobody has called me. My agent and I have not spoken to anyone."
He added: "PSG is one of the best clubs in Europe. If I'm lucky they are interested with me. These are difficult things to refuse. I cannot say yes or no but it is an interest I would take into consideration."
Earlier on Tuesday, Roma completed the permanent transfer of Newcastle defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa. Yanga-Mbiwa joined the Serie A club on loan last September and the deal has been made permanent for a fee of $8 million.
Newcastle announced Roma had met a contractual condition contained in the loan agreement which made a deal for the centerback mandatory after he played 20 games for the club.
France international Yanga-Mbiwa was brought in from Montpellier during the 2013 January transfer window and made 11 Premier League starts last season.
Yanga-Mbiwa failed to establish himself as a first-team regular and subsequently slipped down the pecking order at St. James' Park.
