Silvestre: Gunners still in title race
Arsenal defender Mikael Silvestre insists the Gunners will fight
until the end to finish the season as Premier League champions.
The Gunners have forced their way back into the title race
again to sit six points behind Chelsea, despite recent defeats by
the leaders and Manchester United.
It is six years since Arsene Wenger's side were last crowned
champions and Silvestre believes Arsenal are still in the hunt this
season.
The experienced Frenchman, who was part of several
title-winning squads at United, is optimistic the Gunners can
overhaul both his former club and Chelsea.
"I think we're still in the race and that's important,"
Silvestre, who has made just five Premier League appearances this
season, told Sky Sports News.
"We are nearly in March and that's when things are going to
be decided. As long as we are in it, we will fight until the end."
Arsenal face Stoke City away from home at the weekend, with
the club having lost on five of their last seven trips to the
Potteries.
Silvestre added: "We're going to be ready to face Stoke and
get the three points."
Full-back Bacary Sagna also believes that Arsenal can finish
top of the pile after reducing the gap at the summit in recent
weeks.
Sagna said: "We were 10 points behind at one moment, but we
are not far behind now with 10, 12 games to go.
"We want to win every game, we want to win something this
season and it's still open."
