Shelvey targets swift return

The 18-year-old was yesterday ruled out for 12 weeks with a tendon problem but aims to return quickly to continue his development under the Reds boss. Shelvey came off the bench in the first six matches of Dalglish's tenure, having taken over from Roy Hodgson in early January, but that run was ended when his injury ruled him out of the squad for Sunday's victory over Chelsea. The teenager is obviously rated by Dalglish and Shelvey is keen to repay the faith which has been shown in him. "I have really enjoyed this season and working with Kenny Dalglish is amazing," said the England Under-19 midfielder. "He has brought a real buzz around the place and he has lifted everyone. "The team morale is much stronger now than it was and I think we have seen that in the performances and results we have given. "Who would have said even a couple of months ago Liverpool would beat Chelsea away? "Kenny has got us playing well and even though I was gutted I couldn't play in the game because of my knee, I was delighted to see the lads win. "It is nice to be seen as a good player by someone like Kenny Dalglish, and for him to have put me on in every game since his return is just an honour for me. "The manager just told me to keep doing what I have been doing and it's nice to know that he's considering me and it gives me a good feeling."
