Sevilla players, staff victims of hotel robbery
Players and staff members of Spanish club Sevilla were victims of a robbery at their hotel in Colombia while it was playing a pre-season match against local team Atletico Nacional.
In a statement, the club said thieves entered hotel rooms on Tuesday and carried off entire suitcases.
A spokesman for hotel San Fernando Plaza de Medellin said Wednesday the stolen items included computers, electronic tablets, expensive watches and an undetermined amount of cash. The value of the stolen property could exceed $100,000.
Colombian law enforcement officials said a suspect in the robbery was being held Wednesday near Colombia's border with Venezuela. No other details were immediately available.
Sevilla traveled Wednesday for a match later in the week against Ecuador club Barcelona.
