Serbia's police chief says 19 soccer fans who rioted during a game against Italy have been arrested while returning to Serbia.

The Euro 2012 qualifier in Genoa on Tuesday was called off after only seven minutes when Serbia supporters threw flares and fireworks onto the field and broke barriers. Violent clashes continued through the night, and 16 people, including two policemen, were injured.

Serbia's Interior Minister Ivica Dacic said Thursday that buses carrying fans home from Italy were stopped at Serbia's border crossings overnight and the arrests were made.

Seventeen others, including the alleged ringleader of the riot, were arrested in Italy.
