TUKWILA, Wash. (AP) The Seattle Sounders have signed former Houston forward Cam Weaver for the 2014 season.
Seattle announced the signing on Wednesday. Weaver had been training with the club during the preseason but did not sign until after last weekend's season opening win over Sporting Kansas City.
Weaver is a five-year veteran of the MLS, all with Houston. He helped the Dynamo to the MLS Cup final in 2011 and 2012. He has 13 goals and five assists in his 90 league appearances with Houston.
Before joining the MLS, Weaver played two years in Norway and started his pro career with the USL Seattle Sounders in 2006. The 30-year-old Weaver is a native of Kent, Wash., and played collegiately at Seattle University.
