Scotland and Lithuania began their qualifying campaigns for the 2012 European Championship with a scoreless draw, after missing numerous chances to score.

The Scottish visitors pressured early on, but Lithuania produced the first scoring opportunity in the 18th minute when Saulius Mikoliunas' 20-meter (yard) shot was saved by goalkeeper Allan McGregor.

Eight minutes later Lithuania goalkeeper Zydrunas Karcemarskas had to make a diving save on Barry Robson's free kick.

Scotland came close to scoring again in the 35th when Stephen McManus missed the target from close range.
