Hodgson led his former club Fulham to the Europa League final in 2010, where they ultimately missed out on the title to Atletico Madrid. Austria midfielder Scharner insists the Baggies can qualify for the same competition, providing they avoid a repeat of the mid-season slump that hindered their last campaign. And the 31-year-old has also called on the club's board to back the manager by showing their ambition in the summer transfer market. "I would say we could aim for Europe next season," he told the Express & Star. "Definitely for next season it's possible. "If we can keep our bad spell very short then we have a good chance to finish properly in the top half of the table. The manager has the experience and we have the potential in the team. "But you have to bring that potential onto the pitch as well and we learned a lot last season about what we have to do to be successful. "If we can keep our focus for longer periods for next season there is a massive chance to get big success. "It also depends on the chairman and the board and if they want to continue and increase the success." Scharner has also revealed a personal target of completing a decade in the Premier League, with the six-year milestone looming in December this year having moved to England with Wigan in 2005. The midfielder, who is out of contract at The Hawthorns next summer, added: "I am 31 now and my first ambition is to play for a decade in the English Premier League. "I have played here for six years now and I still need four years to complete 10 in the Premier League. That is my main target. "At the moment I am an Albion player, I am very happy and there is no need to change anything. So let's just see what the future brings."
