Racing Santander coach Alvaro Cervera will miss the last-place team's match at Villarreal on Sunday as he remains in hospital following a heart scare.

Cervera was admitted to Marques de Valdecilla university hospital on Friday after feeling chest pains. Club doctor Javier Ceballos says routine tests were performed and the 46-year-old coach will remain hospitalized through the weekend as standard practice.

Santander is winless in the six games since Cervera was appointed, with the Spanish coach learning of the death of his father a day before taking charge for the first time last month.

Assistant Fede Castano will take over the coaching duties with the Spanish club 10 points from safety with six games to play.
