SAF: Rooney out for 2-3 weeks
Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson says Wayne Rooney is likely to be sidelined for two to three weeks due to an ankle injury.
The England striker was substituted in the 61st minute of United's 2-2 draw at Bolton on Sunday and the Premier League club did not include him in the squad that flew to Spain on Tuesday for a Champions League match against Valencia.
Ferguson said at a news conference at Valencia's Mestalla Stadium that Rooney's injury would likely sideline the player for up to three weeks. That could rule him out of England's European Championship qualifier against Montenegro on Oct. 12.
Ferguson also said Paul Scholes would be out for 10 days with a calf injury, while he would decide Wednesday whether to start Rio Ferdinand against Valencia.
