Givet suffered a chest problem, with Steve Kean revealing after the game that the defender had suffered heart palpitations. Lowe, meanwhile, took a blow to the head and required lengthy treatment on the field towards the end of the game. It is hoped that both men will be back in contention sooner rather than later, but Blackburn will be taking no chances. "Gael Givet and Jason Lowe will undergo further checks over the next few days after being taken off in Sunday's defeat at Sunderland," read a statement released on the club's official website. "Both players, who suffered chest and head problems respectively, travelled back with the team after the game. "Michel Salgado (ribs), Martin Olsson (hamstring) and Junior Hoilett (hamstring) will report into the Senior Training Centre for further treatment."
