Rome derby suspended for 10 minutes
The Rome derby between AS Roma and Lazio was suspended for nearly 10 minutes during the first half Sunday due to exploding firecrackers in the stands. Referee Nicola Rizzoli stopped play in the 13th minute, and explosions continued during the suspension. After the suspension and when play had resumed, an announcement was made in the stadium asking fans to behave, but the explosions continued throughout the match. No goals were scored before the suspension. Roma won 1-0 with a 79th-minute score from Marco Cassetti. About 10 people were stopped by police in incidents outside the stadium before kickoff, the ANSA news agency reported. In 2004, the Rome derby was stopped three minutes into the second half when a false rumor spread through the stadium that police had killed a boy outside the stadium, sparking riots.
