Roda run ended by Alkmaar
Substitute Maarten Martens struck the winning goal for Alkmaar after 74 minutes to move the visitors a point above ADO Den Haag, who travel to De Graafschap on Sunday, and into fifth place. Only two minutes earlier Roda's top-scorer Mads Junker had equalised to cancel out Kolbeinn Sigthorsson's opener, but the Kerkrade club's proud home record came crashing down with Pa-Modou Kah sent off in the closing stages. Darryl Janmaat scored a late equaliser for Heerenveen to secure a 1-1 draw at Vitesse Arnhem. Marti Riverola gave the home side the lead just before half-time, but Janmaat fired home from 20 yards three minutes from time to ensure the spoils were shared. Heracles Almelo ran riot against 10-man relegation strugglers Excelsior to climb to 10th in the Eredivisie table. After the visitors had Daan Bovenberg sent off, Mark-Jan Fledderus gave Heracles an interval lead which was extended by Kwame Quansah and Mark Looms. Guyon Fernandez reduced the arrears and home coach Peter Bosz inexplicably got himself sent to the stands in the closing stages, but Glynor Plet rounded off the scoring moments later for a 4-1 win.
