Bolton have signed Southampton's Danny Butterfield on loan until the end of the season.

The defender will rejoin his former Crystal Palace manager Dougie Freedman at the Reebok Stadium after finding first-team chances at St Mary's hard to come by.

Butterfield, whose only two appearances this season came in the Capital One Cup in the autumn, is Bolton's second deadline-day signing.

Ryan Hall arrived earlier in the day from West Ham as Freedman strengthens his options ahead of a final play-off push.

Wanderers go into the Easter weekend five points behind sixth-placed Leicester with eight games to play.

Rochdale boss Keith Hill once again expects to be without Terry Gornell and Ritchie Jones.

Former Shrewsbury forward Gornell is facing another two to three weeks on the sidelines with a groin complaint, while midfielder Jones remains a major doubt due to his ankle problem.

Defender Rhys Bennett will miss the rest of the season due to an knee injury but fears that midfielder Andrew Tutte had suffered a similar fate were alleviated when a scan results revealed he does not need to go under the knife.

Tutte remains a doubt to face the Shots having missed the creditable 1-1 home draw with table-toppers Gillingham last Tuesday.

Reece Gray (broken leg) remains a long-term absentee.

Aldershot are expected to be without Danny Hylton.

The striker has been missing of late with a knee injury but despite making good progress the Easter programme is expected to have come too soon.

Manager Andy Scott has been working frantically this week to bring in attacking reinforcements to help the Shots' bid to avoid relegation from League Two but his efforts appear to have come up short, with the loan window closing on Thursday evening.

Fit-again left-back Anthony Tonkin had hoped to return for last weekend's trip to Port Vale and the postponement has given him an extra week to increase his fitness.

Defender Troy Brown has also returned to training of late having being sidelined for over a month with an ankle injury and he will be assessed.
