Alejandro Sabella has reportedly failed to show up in the United Arab Emirates to coach Al Jazira, sparking speculation he has abandoned the club in favor of leading Argentina's national team.

The Emirati sports daily Sport 360 reported Wednesday that Sabella didn't board a flight to the UAE as expected, and an Al Jazira official says there is a 90 percent chance he won't coach the club.

Sabella has been mentioned as a possible new Argentina coach after Sergio Batista was dismissed Monday following a disastrous Copa America. Paraguay coach Gerardo Martino and Atletico de Madrid boss Carlos Bianchi have also been touted as candidates.
