A player in the Greek League wants to leave his team after the season because he has been the target of racial abuse by fans.

In an interview with sports daily L'Equipe on Monday, Panathinaikos striker Djibril Cisse says he has been ''the victim of monkey chants, of racist insults.''

Cisse is a black player from France. He plans to go to another team ''for sure'' this summer.

After Panathinaikos lost 2-1 on Saturday, Cisse says a dozen Olympiakos fans attacked him on the field and he retaliated to defend himself. He adds that during the game some Olympiakos fans shook inflatable bananas every time he touched the ball.
