Report: 3 Polish fans turn themselves into police
Three Polish hooligans have reportedly turned themselves in to police on Wednesday after pictures of 51 troublemakers were posted on the Internet as part of a crackdown on stadium violence ahead of the 2012 European Championship.
TVN24 channel said six people in total have been identified from numerous phone calls and e-mails following the police initiative.
Acting on a prosecutor's decision, police posted photos of 51 people on Tuesday who were involved in a riot following the Poland Cup final in Bydgoszcz two weeks ago. They said the photos were taken before and during the match.
The aim is to publicly identify the troublemakers and signal that violence in stadiums will not be tolerated.
Poland is the co-host of Euro 2012 along with Ukraine but is under pressure to prove it can eradicate fan violence. Prime Minister Donald Tusk warned last week that Poland may not host the event unless authorities and football clubs ensure the safety of supporters in stadiums.
