Title-chasing Rennes has signed striker John Verhoek from Den Bosch on a 4-1/2-year deal.
The 21-year-old Verhoek scored 10 goals in 17 league games for Den Bosch in the Dutch second division this season.
The French club announced the deal on its website Wednesday but gave no financial details.
Rennes general manager Pierre Dreossi said Verhoek would need time to adapt to playing at a higher level but ''has a profile which we currently don't have: a link player who is blessed with very good heading ability.''

Rennes is in third place in the league, four points behind leader Lille after 20 games.
Verhoek could make his debut away to Sochaux on Saturday.
