Redknapp: Spurs signed Gudjohnsen
Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has signed Monaco striker Eidur
Gudjohnsen on loan until end of the season.
Spurs completed the deal despite the 31-year-old Iceland
international undergoing a medical examination at London rival West
Ham earlier in the week.
"We've taken him on loan until the end of the season to see
how it goes," Spurs manager Harry Redknapp said Thursday. "I just
thought he's a good player and he can play several positions for
us, he can play in a midfield or attacking-midfield role if we want
to change our system.
"We've lost Aaron Lennon (to injury) so we haven't got a
great deal of width. We can play a diamond formation if we want to
and he can be a big player in that system."
Gudjohnsen left Barcelona at the end of last season, three
years after joining from Chelsea for 8 million pounds (then $16
million) on a four-year deal.
Tottenham is fourth in the Premier League and fighting for
one of the Champions League spots.
