Real Madrid's Santiago Bernabeu stadium is set to get a facelift after the Spanish club's general assembly approved a plan on Sunday.

Madrid president Florentino Perez says that the 63-year-old stadium will receive a new facade along with a new parking lot and green areas.

Images on Madrid's website show the stadium completely wrapped in a neon blue cover folding over the top - leaving an open rectangle matching the shape of the pitch.

Perez told club members that the reform ''will represent a radical change to the stadium's look and will mean that all the stands will now be covered.''
