Real Madrid hierarchy will offer coach Ancelotti a new contract

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti is almost certain to be offered a contract extension this summer, according to club president Florentino Perez.

The Italian tactician's current deal expires in June 2016 and Real have indicated they want Ancelotti to continue in charge.

"We will be delighted to renew Ancelotti's contract," Perez told Spanish radio station Cadena Ser. "I'm sure there will be no problem with Ancelotti's renewal, but this will be negotiated at the end of the season.

"We only speak about renewing contracts at the start or at the end of the season."

Ancelotti, who led Chelsea to Premier League glory in the 2009-10 campaign, has enhanced his reputation as one of the best coaches in Europe at Madrid.

The 55-year-old moved to the Bernabeu stadium in June 2013 and led Real to win the Copa del Rey and a record 10th European title in his first season in charge.

"Ancelotti treats all of his players as a family and that is noticeable," Perez said. "But I have the same fondness with all the coaches that I've had, from (Vicente) Del Bosque to Ancelotti."

Perez believes Ancelotti's predecessor Jose Mourinho paved the way for Real's recent success.

Mourinho left Real in 2013 to guide Chelsea for a second stint.

"With Mourinho, Real Madrid took a qualitative leap," Perez said. "There was a change in terms of intensity and excitement.

"From time to time Mourinho sends me a message. He congratulated me for (Real) winning the Champions League."

Real, who also clinched the UEFA Super Cup trophy this year, can cap an impressive 2014 by winning the Club World Cup this weekend. The Spanish giants take on Argentinian side San Lorenzo in Saturday's final in Marrakech.

"My responsibility is for Real Madrid to be the best club in the 21st century," Perez said.

Real finished third in La Liga last season and are currently four points clear of Barcelona at the top of the Spanish league.
