The US women's national team advanced to the Olympic quarterfinals after a 3-0 win over Colombia on Saturday.

Megan Rapinoe led the way when she opened scoring in the first half. It wasn't until later in the second half that Abby Wambach and Carli Lloyd finished off the Colombians, and the US went on to victory.

Colombia had a solid first 20 minutes, but Rapinoe was quick to silence their attack with her goal, assisted by Alex Morgan, from just outside the 18-yard box.

The US put the match out of reach with a little more than 15 minutes to play when Tobin Heath slotted a pass to Wambach through the Colombian backline. She held off two defenders and powered her shot the goalkeeper.

Lloyd sealed it a few minutes later, when Rapinoe found the midfielder streaking through the middle of the Colombian defense. Lloyd collected the ball and calmly finished for the third and final US goal.

The US faces North Korea on Tuesday in the final group stage match on London 2012.
