Rapids beat Rowdies 3-1 in US Open Cup

The Colorado Rapids advanced to the fourth round of the U.S. Open Cup on Tuesday night with a 3-1 win over the Tampa Bay Rowdies.

Colorado went on top when a loose ball in the Rowdies' box was touched with his hand by Draymond Washington. Edu scored on ensuing penalty kick in the 17th minute.

In the 33rd minute, Andre Akpan doubled the lead, beating keeper Jeff Attinella from the left edge of the 18-yard box.

Colorado's Kamani Hill and Tampa Bay's Matt Clare added goals in the 89th and 92nd minutes.
