The Rangers match at Dundee United in the Scottish Premier League has been abandoned at halftime after heavy rain made the surface unplayable.

Rangers led 1-0 at Tannadice Park on Sunday after Steven Davis scored in the 29th minute. But the rain got worse and, when referee Mike Tumilty went onto the field at halftime to test conditions by rolling the ball across the surface, he decided the game could not continue.

Rangers remains in third place with 19 points from nine games. Celtic beat Kilmarnock 3-0 Saturday and leads with 23 points from 10 matches. Hibernian is second with 20 points after beating Aberdeen 2-0 Saturday.
