The 20-year-old will face assault charges at Newcastle Crown Court on February 27, following a brief hearing at Newcastle Magistrates' Court.

His drunk and disorderly case was adjourned to be back before the magistrates for trial on March 21.

The north London-born footballer, who lives in Forest Hall, North Tyneside, was bailed on condition he stays outside central Newcastle's "parking meter zone between 9pm and 7am", the court heard.

Ranger's loan deal with Championship side Barnsley earlier this season ended when he was injured playing for the South Yorkshire side.
