Queens Park Rangers moved out of the Premier League relegation zone after a 3-1 win against Wigan on Saturday.

The victory was manager Mark Hughes' first in the league and took the team up two spots to 16th, three points above the drop zone.

Heidar Helguson scored in the 33rd minute after Wigan midfielder James McCarthy had handled the ball inside the area at Loftus Road. Akos Buzsaky made it 2-0 from a superb free kick which struck the post and went into the net just before halftime.

Hugo Rodallega pulled a goal back in the 66th for Wigan, before Tommy Smith restored the two-goal cushion in the 81st.
