Liverpool managing director Christian Purslow is standing down from the position following the English Premier League club's takeover by the owners of the Boston Red Sox.

Purslow helped facilitate last week's sale to New England Sports Ventures and will stay on as a special adviser to the team's new American owners.

NESV chairman Tom Werner says Purslow has ''great experience and love for Liverpool FC.''

NESV is looking for a new chief executive to take over Purslow's duties.
