Pulis happy to play the waiting game
The Potters finished 11th in the Premier League last season under the stewardship of Pulis and have so far been quiet in the transfer market. Stoke have let five players go and only added one - young midfielder Florent Cuvelier joining from Portsmouth for an undisclosed fee - although they have been linked with a move for West Ham striker Carlton Cole. The club continued their preparations for the new season with a 1-0 friendly defeat to Derby on Tuesday, and Pulis says new additions will probably come late on. "We will see what happens," he told The Sentinel. "I'm just glad no-one is linking us to the players we want. "I think the best deals will be done at the back end of it and we may have to wait until the back end to get the players we want. "But what we want is players with the attitude we already have at the football club - and which we saw against Derby." On his side's performance against the Rams, Pulis added: "I enjoyed it. The lads worked hard in an open game, which made for a lot more running. "Apart from the goal, I thought the lads did brilliantly. We got caught out early on, but from that point on I was pleased. "On another day we could have scored four, but they looked fit and sharp. Stamina is what we've got to keep working on."
