Cagliari has hired Ivo Pulga as its new coach, replacing the departed Massimo Ficcadenti.

The Sardinian club is the only Serie A side still without a win this season but earlier released a statement denying reports that youth team coach Diego Lopez had replaced Ficcadenti.

It also stressed that Lopez does not have the necessary documents to coach in the top flight.

However, Cagliari later confirmed that Ficcadenti has left the club. It said Tuesday's training session was taken by ''new coach'' Pulga along with Lopez, who will be his assistant.

It's the third coaching change in Serie A this season, and the second of the day after Chievo Verona fired Domenico Di Carlo and hired Eugenio Corini.

Gian Piero Gasperini replaced Giuseppe Sannino at Palermo two weeks ago.
