Lyon manager Claude Puel declared himself happy with his side's opening 1-0 Champions League win over 10-man Schalke.
The French side were on course for victory by half-time after Schalke defender Benedikt Howedes scored an own goal, under pressure from Michel Bastos, before being sent off for a foul on Jimmy Briand just before the break.
Puel was slightly disappointed his side did not add further goals, but was content to get back to winning ways after a poor start to their domestic campaign.
Lyon have managed just one win in their opening five Ligue 1 matches.
"We could have scored another goal. As long as it was only 1-0 we were still under threat," Puel said.
"I think that's the only thing I am disappointed with.
"Other than that, we kept the ball well, we managed to make them run, and we were the stronger team physically.
"It was not easy when we started. Scoring helped us a lot and after their player was sent off, we started finding space.
"We could have scored three. I'm satisfied with the victory, though."
Les Gones' success meant they took the early advantage in Group B along with Portuguese champions Benfica who won 2-0 at home to Hapoel Tel Aviv.
Lyon, semi-finalists in the Champions League last term, will travel to Israel for their next European match in a fortnight, but for now Puel is focused on their important league fixture at rivals Bordeaux on Sunday.
"It's very important to start such a competition with a win, especially seeing we haven't started so well in the league," he said.
"We'll now have a rest; we have another tough game coming up. It's a good way to keep improving."
