PSV hit 10 in record romp
A hat-trick from Jonathan Reis was the cornerstone of the rout which also saw Jeremain Lens (2), Balazs Dzsudzsak (2), Ibrahim Afellay, Ola Toivonen and Orlando Engelaar find the target. Kelvin Leerdam was the man sent off for the visitors after 34 minutes. The bruising loss was the worst in Feyenoord's history, eclipsing the 8-2 reverse against Ajax in September 1983, and will only ramp up the pressure on coach Mario Been, who has been under scrutiny after a poor start to the season that has left the Rotterdammers in the relegation zone. The scoreline also equals PSV's record winning result set on three previous occasions, most recently against FC Volendam in April 1998, and moves Fred Rutten's men two points clear at the summit. Marc Janko scored the crucial goal as FC Twente kept the pressure on PSV with victory in a five-goal thriller in Enschede. Theo Janssen put the defending champions ahead from a free-kick, but the visitors responded as Dmitry Bulykin and Frantisek Kubik struck to put them 2-1 up. However, a Bryan Ruiz penalty levelled matters before Janko sealed the three points for the hosts after 70 minutes. Ten-man Ajax battled back from two goals down to claim a 2-2 draw at Excelsior. The visitors were reduced to 10 men after 27 minutes when Vurnon Anita was sent off for a dangerous tackle before goals from Daan Bovenberg and Kevin Wattamaleo sent Excelsior 2-0 ahead into the break. But Ajax pulled a goal back immediately after the restart with Mounir El Hamdaoui on target before Jan Vertonghen headed in an 89th-minute equaliser. Willem II's dismal start to the season showed no signs of improving as they slumped to a 3-0 loss at the hands of AZ Alkmaar. A Jonathas penalty preceded strikes from Maarten Martens and Brett Holman as AZ inflicted a ninth defeat in 10 fixtures on their foot-of-the-table opponents. Vitesse Arnhem are also struggling at the wrong end following a 4-1 reverse at home to FC Utrecht. A Slobodan Rajkovic own goal gave Utrecht an early lead with strikes from Dries Mertens, Tim Cornelisse and Jacob Mulenga adding weight to the scoreline. Dalibor Stevanovic grabbed a 62nd minute consolation for Vitesse, who lie third from bottom.
