Nene led Paris Saint-Germain into the Europa League knockout round with a game to spare by setting up two goals and scoring himself in a 4-2 win over Sevilla on Thursday.

Nene set up the opening two scores from corners and the Brazilian finessed his own from a superb curling effort from the edge of the penalty area to take his tally to 12 goals from midfield this season.

PSG led 2-0 inside 20 minutes thanks to Mathieu Bodmer and Guillaume Hoarau, then Sevilla striker Frederic Kanoute scored twice in quick succession to level.

Nene made it 3-2 moments before the interval, and Hoarau put PSG further ahead just after the restart.

PSG tops Group J with 11 points and is unbeaten after five games. Sevilla, which also lost at home to PSG, has nine points. PSG has a better head-to-head record against both Sevilla and Borussia Dortmund, which has eight points.

Coach Antoine Kombouare replaced Nene and Hoarau midway through the second half, and both got a loud ovation at Parc des Princes, which was less than half full with just under 19,000 fans braving the freezing conditions.

Sevilla started brightly and midfielder Ndri Romaric hit the post in the fourth minute. Winger Diego Perotti caused PSG right back Ceara problems soon after when he darted inside and hit a low shot that goalkeeper Apoula Edel saved.

PSG took the lead in the 17th minute when Zoumana Camara headed Nene's corner on to Bodmer, giving him an easy tap-in.

Sevilla failed to defend Nene's next corner just three minutes later, and Hoarau rose unchallenged at the near post to head into the opposite corner.

Midfielder Clement Chantome then hit a shot over the crossbar as PSG carved open Sevilla's defense.

Kanoute made it 2-1 in the 32nd when he headed Diego Capel's cross from the right past Edel, and the former Mali forward stabbed the ball in at the left post to make it 2-2 after PSG's weak right flank was exposed again in the 36th.

Chantome gave away free kicks before both goals.

In a thoroughly entertaining first half, Nene fed Hoarau in the 39th and goalie Andres Palop saved at this near post.

Nene got the goal of the match on the stroke of halftime.

Stephane Sessegnon broke through down the right and squared the ball to Nene who, with his back to goal, spun and curled a brilliant shot into the left corner from 20 yards (meters).

Hoarau got his second goal - and his fourth in three games - just after the restart, running onto Chantome's pass and poking the ball under Palop's body. Romaric then chopped down Chantome moments later as Sevilla lost its composure.

Edel dived at Kanoute's feet to deny him a hat trick in the 70th, and PSG substitute Peguy Luyindula missed a good chance.

There was some pushing and shoving after the game following an altercation between PSG defender Christophe Jallet and Perotti. Jallet was dragged away as he repeatedly sought to confront Perotti over an earlier challenge.
