Protests force postponement of Egyptian league

The Egyptian football association has postponed the 16th round of the domestic football league because of anti-government protests in Cairo and other cities.

The matches had been scheduled for Friday and Saturday, but the association says it will meet at a later date to decide when to play the postponed games.

The decision to postpone came after a request from security authorities in Egypt following nationwide demonstrations demanding the ouster of President Hosni Mubarak, who has ruled Egypt for nearly 30 years.
