Albion concluded their tour with a goalless draw against Corboda on Saturday, keeping a first clean sheet in four matches. Poyet highlighted areas for improvement after last season and the game against Corboda gave his players the opportunity to prove their progress. "We were talking after the game and we saw players who have been with us for a couple of years and they are totally different players," Poyet told the club's official website. "They really understand the game and that's very pleasing for me to see as a manager. "Corboda were good at pressing us and we came unstuck a little bit last season when teams were pressing us high up the pitch. We have been working on that and here we did things very well and we're learning for the future in the Championship. Now teams have got to be careful because we have another option in playing long. There are big decisions for the opposition." The Uruguayan added: "It's good that we didn't concede because that was the aim. I asked the players to do the basics and that's what they did. We were slightly the better side but it's football and if you don't score you don't win games."
