Portsmouth has been fined by the Premier League for breaching its rules and regulations over the late payment of wages and transfer fees.

Already in financial administration and almost certain to be relegated, Portsmouth now has to find a reported 1 million pounds ($1.5 million; €1.1 million) in fines.

The Premier League confirmed the fines on Monday without giving any details. The fines are expected to be paid out of the club's share of TV money.

Portsmouth is last in the Premier League and had nine points deducted for going into financial administration.
